Institutional Capacity Development

CHAU has a professional Board of Directors (BOD) that meets on a quarterly basis and advices management on the implementation, management and fundraising issues. The organization has had a stable leadership with minimal staff turnover. Child Aid Uganda was granted a mandate to operate country wide and has established links for scaling up its interventions to Mubende, Apac, Isingiro, Buhweju and Kamwenge districts.

Child Aid Uganda is seated on its own one acre of land with a permanent office premise. The organisation prides herself in the commitment, expertise and hard work of her qualified and professional staff. The organization employs qualified staffs at a bachelor’s degree level under the leadership of the Executive Director who possess a Master’s Degree in Development Studies and several certificates. The executive director has hands on experience in the same field for 12 years. The organisation has a team of 7 exquisite staff with a wide range of professional experience in various fields such as financial management, administrative management, monitoring and evaluation, education, child protection, counseling, cooperative development and management. These work diligently to make Child Aid Uganda the leading quality service provider in the district. Child Aid Uganda team has experience of managing donor and membership funds, the local community and has previously implemented OVC interventions in the area.

RHSP has also built the capacity of these staff in implementation of OVC interventions of a similar project and thus they are better suited to implement grant applied for. At the grass-root, the organization works through Village Community Based Volunteers, parent guardian groups (referred to as sub county Child Aid Committees) that act as a link between the secretariat and the community. These volunteers also work hand in hand with village councils and CHAU field staff in the identification of the needs of beneficiaries and monitoring the activities of the organization. The organisation also has adequate office equipment such as computers, printers, photocopiers, vehicles and motorcycles to undertake the project.
